VINEYARD HISTORY

About Us

Prospecting Vineyard was establish in 2002, with its first 1500 shiraz vines planted.

Layout was particular important from the outset as the vineyard needed to be completely covered in galvanised wire. This was important in protecting the vines from frost. Birds can also play havac on the fruit quality and the wire has prevented this.

With such a layout required the distance between the rows are reduced and no machinery can be brought into the vineyard. With no machinery all work on the vineyard is completed by hand.

Hand Picked Shiraz is highlighted on the label and its truly "hand picked".

Pruning, spraying, and all other duties required to manage and maintain the vineyard are completed by manual labour. When you have such a practice there is every chance that you will harvest a high quality product.
